Andre Masson artist
XXe is a vintage lithograph by Andre Masson, printed June 1969 by the famous XXe Siecle Art Magazine No. 32 in an edition of 2,500 pieces. Masson was a famous surrealist artist, with his work in the collections of many major museums. He is currently rated (Hammer and ArtPrice) as the 162nd most collected artist worldwide for prints. His unit value was 100 in 1997 with his estimated 2005 unit value at 220, meaning in these last years investments in his works have more than doubled in value. There was a rare opportunity to purchase an original Masson lithograph; an opportunity that was accepted so that the piece could be sold to develop investment money for young artists around the world. This piece was put in print by XXe in a promotional set, and, we believe has faded somewhat since its original printing. However, we know such a piece in 1969 would be developed seriously by such a magazine and with the artist's direct involvement. We thank the major gallery in Europe that made an offer for this work to e-ArtNow.
